Job summary

ADB Safegate in Columbus, Ohio is seeking an Electrical Validation & Integration Engineer to ensure that our light and power products meet relevant requirements. This role involves validating designs, optimizing test processes and automating test scripts.

Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and relevant experience. The company promotes a flexible working culture and recognizes staff contributions.

Qualifications

  • 0-5 years of relevant working experience.
  • Insight into modern production processes such as PCBs, transformers, cables, and connectors.
  • Knowledge of relevant international and national standards (FAA, ICAO, CE/EMC/IEC/LVD requirements).

  • Collaborate during the design phase and provide feedback on electrical, electronic, and software designs.
  • Prepare test plans and validate designs using in-house equipment and external laboratories.
  • Analyze test data and prepare detailed test reports.

Electrical Validation and Integration Engineer

ADB SAFEGATE's functional teams are integral to powering innovation and ensuring operational excellence across the organization.

The Opportunity....

As an Electrical Validation & Integration Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the electrical, electronic, and software designs of our light and power products meet all relevant requirements and standards. Your work will focus on validating new and existing designs, optimizing test processes, and automating test scripts.

You will make an impact by...

  • Collaborate during the design phase and provide necessary feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of electrical, electronic, and software designs
  • Prepare test plans and test cases based on requirement specifications and design concepts, considering factors like new components or software platforms.
  • Validate designs using in-house equipment and external laboratories; ensuring tolerances are suitable for efficient production.
  • Analyze test data and prepare detailed test reports to determine whether products meet required criteria and specifications. Identify nonconformities of product and offer recommendations for resolving abnormalities.
  • Develop and maintain databases for tracking test results, test activities, and test samples
  • Maintain, operate and take care of calibration of electric/electronic test equipment in the Environmental Lab
  • Contribute to product specifications and documentation, including manuals and marketing materials
  • Participate in certification activities and testing processes
  • Build expertise in industry standards (FAA, ICAO, etc.) and actively participate to improve these standards
  • Provide technical support to other departments
  • Research new technologies, materials, and components to enhance product performance
  • Continuously seek improvements in design & testing tools
  • Engage with external partners including suppliers, subcontractors, universities, and laboratories, to foster innovation
  • Ensure compliance with administrative policies, confidentiality, and regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate competitor products, and monitor trends in the AGL (Airfield Ground Lighting) market
  • Operate independently while being embedded within the product design team
  • Drive automation of test procedures, including data collection, troubleshooting, and debugging

The talent we want to inspire has....

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering field (or equivalent by experience)
  • 0-5 years of relevant working experience
  • Working knowledge of electrical analog/ digital circuits and power electronics
  • Insight into modern production processes (both in-house and supplier-related), such as PCBs, transformers, cables, and connectors
  • Experience with measurement tools (oscilloscope, power analyzer, spectrum analyzer)
  • Advanced knowledge of automated regression testing, including GUI testing
  • Knowledge of load & stress testing of electrical, electronic and software designs
  • Experience in test automation (e.g. Python)
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, Profibus)
  • Professional knowledge of relevant international and national standards (FAA, ICAO, CE/EMC/IEC/LVD requirements)
  • Background as an experienced Electrical Engineer or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal

This would be a plus but not a must!

  • Proficiency in design tools (e.g., Altium, AutoCAD) and simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of powerline communication and individual lamp control/monitoring systems.
  • Understanding of series circuit behavior and various types of constant current regulators.
  • Knowledge of certification processes
  • Knowledge of market trends, competitors, and customer potential
