ADB SAFEGATE leads the world in smart solutions that help airports handle more aircraft, safely and efficiently, from approach to departure. Our products and services can lift any airport's performance from approach, runway and taxiway lighting; to tower-based traffic control systems; to intelligent gate and docking automation.

The Opportunity....

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain high quality software applications as a part of our Individual Lighting Control Monitoring System (ILCMS) team. This position will primarily focus on our LINC360 powerline communication controller and ACE3 constant current regulator (CCR) controller line of products. The Senior Software Engineer will provide technical leadership across all phases of the software development lifecycle and mentor more junior developers.

You will make an impact by...
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex software solutions for industrial and embedded systems.
  • Architect and maintain scalable, reliable, and maintainable software modules and system components.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive unit, integration, and black box testing strategies to ensure software quality and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams-including hardware, QA, and product management-to gather requirements and deliver high-quality software.
  • Apply Agile methodologies to manage project tasks, prioritize work, and ensure continuous delivery of value.
  • Review customer standards and specifications to derive clear software requirements for new product developments.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues in development, testing, and production environments.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and best practices.
  • Produce clear and comprehensive documentation for design specifications, installation instructions, and technical guidelines.
  • Assess project scope and resource requirements for complex software modules, and advise on design strategies and product enhancements.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% for field troubleshooting, data collection, and site surveys both in the US and internationally.
  • Champion integration of AI to improve efficiency and productivity of development workflow.
The talent we want to inspire has...

  • Demonstrated expertise in software architecture and in designing robust, scalable, maintainable, and testable solutions for industrial systems (e.g., automation, robotics, manufacturing, or embedded systems).
  • Hands-on experience writing low-latency (real-time) code for embedded Linux operating systems, multithreading, and inter-process communication.
  • Deep knowledge of "zero-trust" networking over TLS (including chain-of-trust management), and cybersecurity principles as they apply to IOT and embedded systems (e.g. TPM2 secret storage, secure boot, signed over-the-air updates, OS hardening, device management, etc).
  • Familiarity with industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, CAN bus, OPC UA) is highly desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge designing and implementing integration test cases with hardware in the loop, improving code testability, and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with Go (Golang), Python, and scripting nice to have.
  • Proficiency with Git for version control required.
  • Ability to work with hardware interfaces and troubleshoot software/hardware integration issues.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to mentor junior developers and collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, QA, and product teams.
