Job summary

Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, Inc. seeks a Technical Training Specialist to plan, develop, deliver, and evaluate transmission and generation training for apprentices and staff.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical or electronics technology, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, delivers, and evaluates operations and maintenance training, including classroom, field-based, and on-the-job instruction, as directed by management.
• Assesses apprentice knowledge, skills, progress, and training needs; documents performance; and verifies completion of required training elements.
• Coordinates with facility management to identify appropriate work groups, assignments, schedules, and resources that support apprentice development.
• Leads journey-level and apprentice technicians during training activities without formal supervisory authority.
• Provides initial, refresher, and hands-on instruction for mobile and material-handling equipment; promotes proper use of materials, tools, and work practices.
• Ensures training programs align with safety requirements and environmental regulations.
• Assists management with surveys, analyses, and identification of training needs.
• Maintains knowledge of industry maintenance methods and recommends improvements.
• Reviews training resources and recommends their effective use.
• Provides technical and instructional support to other training specialists and supports program development.
• Evaluates training effectiveness, employee progress, and program cost-effectiveness; suggests improvements.
• Maintains training records with the Tri-State Training and Scheduling Department.
• Supports department initiatives from the Technical Workforce Development Manager.
• Maintains reliable attendance and performance to support Tri-State's obligations.
• Willingness to work overtime and travel as needed.
