Job summary

Scientific Applications & Research Associates, Inc. (SARA) in Colorado Springs is hiring an Engineering Technician to provide general engineering and lab support for Pulsed Power and Directed Energy projects.

The role involves wiring, testing, installation, and collaboration with engineers across programs supporting DoD and DoE customers. You will work on-site in a dynamic lab environment, perform safety‑driven electrical work, and travel up to 4–6 weeks per year as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 4–8 years of relevant technical experience, or higher education in lieu of experience.
• Willing to travel up to 4–6 weeks per year, non-continuous.
• Electrical/electrician background or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail, with strong communication.
• Basic computer skills (MS Office, Email).

Responsibilities

• General engineering and maintenance support.
• Assist in lab setup, diagnostics, testing, and tear-down of projects.
• Support prototyping and testing of Pulsed Power and Directed Energy projects.
• Collaborate with engineers to keep projects on schedule.
• Perform electrical work for testbeds and off-site installations, including wiring and conduit installations.
• Read blueprints and one-line diagrams; assist with power equipment installation.
• Ensure safety via lockout/tagout and maintain a safe work environment.
