Job Title

Electrical Technician

This is a full-time position located onsite in Monroe Township, NJ.

The Company

OPT provides intelligent maritime solutions and services that enable safer, cleaner, and more productive ocean operations for the defense and security, oil and gas, science and research, and offshore wind markets, including Merrows, which offers AI-capable seamless integration of Maritime Domain Awareness Systems across platforms. Our PowerBuoy platforms provide clean and reliable electric power and real-time data communications for remote maritime and subsea applications. We also provide WAM-V unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) and marine robotics services. The Company’s headquarters is located in Monroe Township, New Jersey, with an additional office in Richmond, California.

The Role

We are seeking an Electrical Technician with a talent for building systems from the ground up. You should have demonstrated proficiency in building, testing, and modifying electrical assemblies, from populating circuit boards to creating wiring harnesses and assembling complex systems. You are a fast learner, organized, pride yourself on your work, and produce professional-grade final products. You have a positive attitude, enjoy working hard, and work well under pressure within a small team.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the production manager, you will be part of the production and prototyping team, working closely with the engineering team. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Building electrical assemblies from detailed (production) and conceptual (prototype) drawings.
  • Preparing as-built drawings, documentation, procedures, packing lists, and QC documentation.
  • Performing QC on third-party and in-house components and assemblies.
  • Testing electrical subassemblies individually and as part of the final assembly.
  • Collecting and interpreting test data.
  • Assisting in updates to the QA program and documentation.
  • Following manufacturing best practices for marine environments and robotic systems.
  • Designing, setting up, and maintaining dedicated workstations, tools, manufacturing jigs, and tools.
  • Maintaining, cleaning, and organizing production and prototyping floors.

Required Qualifications

  • Approximately 3 years of hands-on experience with low-voltage systems and wiring.
  • Proficiency with small hand and power tools.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, knowing when to seek assistance.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment without compromising quality.
  • Positive, hardworking attitude; team player able to remain calm under pressure.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed before critical deadlines.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with electrical and electromechanical assembly build-out and testing.
  • Experience with machine tools (mills, lathes, etc.).
