Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat offers a Columbia Electrical Systems Summer Internship in Groton, CT, supporting the Columbia Class electrical systems development. Interns contribute to drawings, testing, and vendor oversight while gaining exposure to naval engineering and construction activities.

Participants should be enrolled full‑time in a related engineering program, able to work 40 hours/week for 8–12 weeks, and prepared for security screening and site visits across Groton/NL/North

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled full‑time in a college or university.
• Freshman year completed (minimum).
• Available to work 40 hours per week for 8–12 weeks between May and Sept 2027.
• Pursuing related engineering degrees as listed.

Responsibilities

• Review electrical system drawings for technical adequacy.
• Troubleshoot systems under construction or testing.
• Provide vendor oversight for procurement and specs.
• Evaluate power distribution for survivability in naval environment.
• Evaluate cableways design and perform supporting calculations.
• Review test procedures and develop equipment drawings.
• Develop and review technical manuals for customer use.
• Gain construction‑support experience building the first Columbia-class submarine.
