Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat offers a Columbia Design & Engineering Summer Internship in Groton/New London, CT. Interns will support the Columbia program office, collaborate with multiple teams, and gain exposure to design completion, construction, testing, and ship certification processes.

You will work under senior mentorship across engineering disciplines and participate in leadership development while contributing to real projects this summer.

Qualifications

• Enrolled full-time in a college or university
• US citizenship and 18+ required
• Available to work 40 hours/week for 8+ consecutive weeks May–Sep 2027
• Drug screen and background check required
• Pursuing a Bachelor or MS degree in Engineering disciplines
• Must arrange housing and reliable transportation for duration of internship
• Must be located near Groton CT or New London CT

Responsibilities

• Support program management tasks for the Columbia design and engineering program
• Assist with ship design, planning, contracts and procurement activities
• Collaborate across systems engineering, planning, contracts and purchasing
• Contribute to design products and life-cycle engineering initiatives
• Engage with senior mentors and learn Electric Boat processes
