Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Graduate Engineer, Electrical for Substation work in the East Region. You will join the Substation department as an entry-level engineer, contributing to a variety of projects and gaining hands-on experience across engineering domains.

Responsibilities include learning design guides, producing basic deliverables, and supporting data collection, calculations, and coordination with project teams. Hybrid work options may be offered after onboarding.

Qualifications

• Coursework and knowledge of Power Systems, Motors, Transformers, Renewable Energy, Power Delivery, or Three Phase Power Calculations.
• Previous internship experience.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design principles, design guides and standards.
• GPA 3.0 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and Black & Veatch policies and procedures.
• Supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
• Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles used in similar engineering analysis.
• Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Shares information with others as requested.
• Coordinates with others when directed by supervisor or project leadership.
• Focuses on the needs of internal clients while gaining understanding of external client drivers.
• May provide support to business development or pursuit activities.
• Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
