Job summary

Baltimore Gas and Electric, part of Exelon, seeks a Substation Design Engineer to perform protective and control focused design tasks for electric substations and transmission facilities. You will review proposed plans, determine costs, and ensure compliance with standards.

You’ll coordinate with field crews, obtain permits, and manage scheduling and changes. Strong drafting skills and AutoCAD experience are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of algebra, trig and mechanical drawing for accurate construction drawings.
• Ability to read technical drawings and apply utility design standards.
• Valid driver's license and ability to use a personal vehicle for company business.
• High School Diploma required; CAD/Drafting experience preferred.
• Experience with gas/electric/lighting facilities and drafting standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform less complex electric substation and transmission designs focusing on protection and controls.
• Review customer plans to assess interference and required resources.
• Determine specifications, materials, costs, permits, and right of way needs.
• Coordinate with field construction personnel and approve minor field changes.
• Provide field survey input and document project plans and costs.
