Job summary

Pepco is seeking a skilled engineer to perform less complex electric substation and transmission system design with a focus on protection and controls. The role includes reviewing construction plans, determining costs and permitting needs, and coordinating field activities within Maryland.

Responsibilities include evaluating plans, coordinating with customers and agencies, and performing field surveys to map facility relationships. Overnight overtime may be required as projects demand.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of algebra, trigonometry, and mechanical drawing for construction drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and apply utility design standards.
• Experience with CADD/AutoCAD and protection and control concepts preferred.
• Notary Public in Maryland may be required depending on assignment.
• High School Diploma required; relevant associates degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs the less complex electric substation and transmission system design focused on protection and controls.
• Reviews plans of proposed construction to determine interference with existing or proposed facilities.
• Determines specifications, materials, costs, permitting, and right of way requirements; documents for construction prerequisites.
• Executes contracts and performs field visits; maintains customer contact throughout the job.
• Negotiates scheduling commitments, permits, and permissions with customers and government agencies.
• Performs field location surveys and plots facilities showing relationships to existing assets.
