Job summary

Exelon is seeking an experienced design engineer to prepare construction details for electric and gas distribution projects, using CAD and ATLAS tools. You will assess load requirements, negotiate schedules, and coordinate with engineers, field crews, and customers to deliver compliant designs.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma with several years of related utility design experience, strong math and communication skills, and familiarity with environmental and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and 6+ years in design/drafting of gas and/or electric utility systems.
• Strong mathematics, engineering knowledge, and construction standards.
• Familiar with environmental permitting, rights-of-way, and safety practices.
• Ability to plan, manage, and coordinate multiple work assignments.
• Experience with CAD and producing construction documents.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction details for utility designs (substation, transmission, gas/electric/distribution).
• Estimate load requirements and project costs; determine resources.
• Coordinate with engineers, field forces, and customers; ensure commitments.
• Review plans with CAD tools; review and quote charges.
• Manage contracts, permissions, and rights-of-way; bill customers.
• Conduct field surveys and produce compliant construction documents.
