We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Electrical Specialist at our chemical manufacturing facility located in Wichita, Kansas.

Job Duties:
  1. Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority.
  2. Act as a leader and role model in the areas of safety and environment.
  3. Work overtime as required to support plant operations and maintenance.
  4. Maintain a good working knowledge of plant safety and environmental rules, and understand how to apply them to specific job tasks. Directly monitor and evaluate personal safety and the inclusion of safety requirements in maintenance procedures.
  5. Assist with development and implementation of technical training for electricians to ensure high knowledge and performance levels.
  6. Provide technical assistance to production and engineering groups on application of new and modification of existing electrical equipment.
  7. Research and identify opportunities to modify existing electrical equipment/processes to improve efficiency and/or reliability. Assist in design review and commissioning of projects. Support planning and organizing projects related to electricity.
  8. Perform outage planning for major electrical work.
  9. Serve as a technical resource for other OxyChem locations as needed.
  10. Ensure the reliability of the power distribution system, rectifiers, and all associated controls.
  11. Plan, organize, and schedule jobs involving electricians and electrical contractors.
  12. Identify equipment deficiencies and write work orders to correct them.
  13. Periodically review site electrical procedures for accuracy and compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements. Provide training on any changes.
  14. Stay current on safety regulations for electrical workers as regulated by OSHA and other bodies such as NFPA 70E.
  15. Help oversee electrical protocol, PSM, and ISO activities to ensure plant compliance.
  16. Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for electrical equipment to maximize uptime.
  17. Provide coverage for vacations, illnesses, etc., for the Electrical Shop supervisor and group leader.
  18. Interpret and modify drawings including P&ID's, control diagrams, schematics, ladder logic, etc., for design reviews and plant modifications.
  19. Understand and troubleshoot microprocessor and semiconductor problems.
  20. Ensure electrical PM programs meet corporate guidelines and are completed on time. Write work orders for deficiencies found during PMs.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Journeyman's License
  • Strong electrical background
  • Thorough knowledge of electrical distribution and control systems
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code
  • Experience with inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of transformers
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Ability to respond to off-hour emergencies
  • Valid driver's license
  • Physical ability to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs, and wear PPE including respirators. Ability to respond to alarms.
