Electrical Studies Subject Matter Expert

We are seeking an Electrical Studies Subject Matter Expert to join our Energy Storage team. The role involves preparing and reviewing studies for utility-scale battery projects, including arc flash analysis, reactive power studies, TOV studies, and other simulations as needed.

Position Details:

• Electrical Studies Subject Matter Expert – Contract, 1 year (W-2)
• Location: Remote or Juno Beach, FL 33408

Responsibilities:

• Support design phases and engineer major components for large-scale energy storage projects.
• Identify inconsistencies in engineering drawings, take corrective actions, and improve design quality and efficiency.
• Resolve errors in engineering studies and suggest future improvements.
• Prepare technical scopes of work for contracts.
• Influence project teams on engineering tasks.
• Collaborate with diverse teams to solve problems, improve opportunities, and integrate systems and controls.
• Understand specifications for major equipment procurement, ensure clear communication, and propose solutions.
• Comprehend permitting requirements, address legal challenges, and recommend site design improvements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Travel up to 10% for project-specific tasks.

Desired Experience:

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred)
• 7+ years of experience in Solar/PV Engineering and/or Construction
• Expertise in power electronics, battery storage system design, substation design, or generation tie design
• Proficiency in ETAP, PSCAD, and PSSE software
• Knowledge of energy storage technologies, including battery chemistries, power conversion units, and DC/DC converters
• Familiarity with lithium-ion battery storage safety standards (UL1973, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, IFC/IBC sections)
• Understanding of IEC 61215, 61646, 61730 standards
• Ability to handle specialized technical tasks independently
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
