Job summary

Edgewater Technical Associates, LLC in Los Alamos, NM is seeking an Electrical Safety Officer (SME I) to support the Los Alamos National Laboratory. The role focuses on overseeing the Electrical Safety Program, conducting incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with NFPA 70E and other safety standards.

The position involves on-site field work at TA-55 and TA-51, working with project managers, engineers, and field staff to implement safe work practices, review IWD/LOTO procedures, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 7 years of field experience.
• Advanced knowledge of NFPA, IEEE, OSHA, especially NFPA 70E.
• Experience with electrical systems (low-voltage AC/DC) and field compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to pass Radiological Worker II training and RAD Area work.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact on electrical safety and administer LANL program.
• Advise LANL employees and managers on electrical safety concerns.
• Conduct incident investigations and develop corrective actions.
• Perform workplace inspections to identify electrical hazards.
• Lead reviews of IWD and LOTO procedures.
• Contribute to codes, standards, and design safety specs.
• Provide advanced support to engineers and scientists on complex problems.
• Evaluate controlled items for compliance with safety requirements.
• Calculate electrical severity scores for incidents.
• Develop written electrical safety policies and procedures.
