Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks an Electrical Safety Officer to lead the LANL Electrical Safety Program in Los Alamos, NM.

The role provides expert electrical safety support for construction projects, coordinating with project managers, craft, and field teams to ensure safe work practices. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree, 7+ years' experience, NFPA/IEEE/OSHA knowledge (NFPA 70E), and the ability to pass a federal background and Radiological Worker II training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant field experience or equivalent.
• Advanced knowledge of NFPA, IEEE, and OSHA (NFPA 70E).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PC systems.
• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to pass a federal background check.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact for the LANL Electrical Safety Program.
• Advise LANL employees and managers on electrical safety concerns.
• Investigate incidents and determine root causes; develop corrective actions.
• Perform workplace inspections to identify electrical hazards.
• Lead reviews of IWD and LOTO procedures.
• Develop codes, standards, and specifications for electrical safety.
• Provide advanced support to engineers and scientists on safety matters.
• Evaluate controlled items for safety compliance.
• Perform calculations to determine electrical severity scores.
• Develop written electrical safety policies and design standards.
