Job summary

Border States Industries, Inc. in Nashville, TN is seeking a Quotations Specialist to prepare complete quotations from takeoff to customer submission.

You will work with engineers and customers to meet business needs, develop bids, and manage pricing within company objectives. The role requires knowledge of electrical products, strong customer service, and experience with quotations software (SE Advantage, Parspec) as well as SAP.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a business or trade degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 4 years of prior customer service, quotation, or sales experience with strong knowledge of electrical products and systems preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of product lines and applications, alternate product substitutes, and supplier pricing policies preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak in English preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of PC for Windows, Microsoft Office, internet, email, and SAP software preferred.
• Prior experience working in switchgear manufacturer quotations software (SE Advantage, Parspec) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs takeoffs of bids and pricing functions for products like switchgear, transformers, and lighting systems.
• Uses judgment within pricing guidelines to determine necessary product specifications and pricing for projects.
• Independently completes and supports the quotation process for each project.
• Provides customers with timely follow-up on specialized or technical inquiries.
• Develops quotations and bids, coordinating vendor pricing, lead times, alternates, and project specifications.
• Maintains a log of wins/losses for bids and identifies value engineering or expedited shipping options.
• Coordinates with Border States staff to resolve customer billing issues related to quotations.
