Job summary

SST Direct is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager in Abilene, TX to lead complex electrical construction projects for data centers and mission-critical facilities. You will oversee scheduling, budgeting, procurement, subcontractor management, safety, and client communication from preconstruction through turnover.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in electrical construction, project engineering, or electrical project management.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a managerial or team leadership capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent construction experience considered.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction methods, scheduling, procurement, and project financials.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred; OSHA 30 must be completed within 6 months of hire.

  • Monitor progress, identify delays, costs, and risks.
  • Ensure safety practices and quality standards.
  • Develop and mentor Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers.

Mission Critical Electrical Project Manager

Pay & Compensation

Base Salary: $120,000–$135,000
Auto Allowance: $14,400 annually
Year-End Bonus: 10–15% based on company performance

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to lead complex electrical construction projects for data centers and other mission-critical facilities from preconstruction through completion.

This position will have overall responsibility for project execution, including scheduling, budgeting, procurement, subcontractor management, quality, safety, risk management, and client communication.

The Project Manager will work closely with Superintendents, Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, commissioning teams, and clients to deliver technically complex electrical projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

The ideal candidate has experience managing large-scale electrical construction projects, preferably within data center, mission-critical, industrial, semiconductor, advanced technology, or similarly complex environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical construction projects from preconstruction through final completion, with a primary focus on data center and mission-critical facilities.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasting, procurement, contracts, and overall project performance.
  • Oversee electrical subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and specialty trade partners.
  • Coordinate electrical construction activities with mechanical, structural, architectural, plumbing, controls, and other building systems.
  • Work closely with the Superintendent and field teams to plan electrical work sequences and maintain project schedules.
  • Oversee procurement of electrical equipment, materials, and specialty systems.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential schedule delays, cost issues, and construction risks.
  • Resolve complex field and project issues and coordinate solutions between owners, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Manage change orders, contracts, RFIs, submittals, pay applications, and other project documentation.
  • Track project financials, cost projections, commitments, and forecasting.
  • Communicate project status, schedule, budget, risks, and changes to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong coordination between office and field teams throughout project execution.
  • Coordinate electrical testing, startup, commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities.
  • Ensure electrical construction meets project specifications, quality requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards.
  • Partner with the Superintendent to maintain strong safety practices and identify potential risks associated with electrical construction activities.
  • Lead and develop Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, and other project team members.
  • Maintain consistent field presence and participate in project planning, coordination, and safety meetings.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience managing electrical construction projects for data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial facilities, semiconductor facilities, advanced technology facilities, or other technically complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction methods, sequencing, and coordination.
  • Experience with large-scale electrical systems and complex equipment installations.
  • Experience managing electrical subcontractors, vendors, and specialty trades.
  • Experience with project scheduling, cost control, contracts, procurement, and change management.
  • Experience coordinating electrical testing, commissioning, and turnover activities.
  • Ability to manage projects with aggressive schedules and significant coordination between multiple trades and stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent construction experience will be considered.
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical construction, project engineering, or electrical project management.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a managerial or team leadership capacity preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical construction methods, scheduling, contracts, procurement, and project financials.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex electrical construction and project management issues.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred. OSHA 30 must be completed within 6 months of hire.
Compensation & Benefits
  • $120,000–$135,000 base salary
  • $14,400 annual auto allowance
