About the Construction Company / The Opportunity:
Join a leading construction organization delivering high-quality commercial electrical and communications projects throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. This is a key leadership opportunity for an experienced project professional to manage projects from preconstruction through closeout while balancing profitability, schedule, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. You will work closely with owners, general contractors, design teams, vendors, subcontractors, and field personnel on technically demanding commercial projects.
Responsibilities:
- Manage commercial electrical projects from contract award through project closeout.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and manpower plans.
- Review contracts, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and other trades.
- Lead project meetings and maintain clear communication with project stakeholders.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, billing, and project documentation.
- Monitor project costs, labor productivity, material expenses, forecasting, and overall profitability.
- Coordinate procurement of equipment, materials, and long-lead items.
- Provide leadership to project engineers, estimators, superintendents, foremen, and field personnel.
- Identify project risks, resolve design and constructability issues, and develop proactive solutions.
- Ensure projects meet contract requirements, schedules, budgets, quality standards, and safety expectations.
- Manage project closeout activities, including punch lists, as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, and final billing.
Must-Have Skills:
- 5+ years of commercial electrical construction project management experience.
- Strong understanding of commercial electrical construction methods, materials, and systems.
- Demonstrated experience managing projects from contract award through closeout.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, change orders, and financial performance.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, contracts, and scopes of work.
- Strong knowledge of construction scheduling, project coordination, and cost control.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with construction or project management software.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Background in ground-up commercial construction, tenant improvements, or renovations.
- Experience with high-rise, mission-critical, healthcare, life science, hospitality, or institutional projects.
- Experience with design-build electrical projects and electrical estimating or preconstruction.
- Knowledge of low-voltage and communications systems.
- Experience managing projects valued at $5 million or more.
