Job summary

Weston & Sampson Engineers Inc is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design electrical systems for new construction and renovations across educational, commercial, municipal, and federal projects. You will develop construction documents, review shop drawings, and work with clients and subconsultants to deliver integrated building systems.

The role emphasizes independent work, ownership, and collaborative growth within a multidisciplinary team, with opportunities to expand leadership capabilities

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering, an electrical or technical discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 0–8 years of experience in an engineering consulting firm or a related electrical design environment.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Revit, or familiarity with similar design software.
• Knowledge of electrical building systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, emergency power generation, and applicable National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
• Familiarity with relevant building codes, electrical standards, and design manuals.
• Demonstrated electrical design experience and the ability to apply technical knowledge to practical engineering solutions.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Initiative, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to develop leadership skills and contribute to the growth and success of the team.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical engineering design for new construction and renovation projects across public, private, commercial, educational, municipal, water, and wastewater facilities.
• Develop construction documents and contract drawings, conduct field investigations, review shop drawings, prepare technical reports, and participate in project meetings.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, civil, and other engineering professionals in local and regional offices to develop integrated building system solutions.
• Collaborate with clients, subconsultants, equipment vendors, and other stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
• Apply technical knowledge and creative problem-solving to develop safe, reliable, and practical electrical systems.
• Work independently while collaborating with experienced team members, taking on increasing responsibility and developing leadership skills.
