Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks an experienced electrical design lead to oversee the design, modification, and upgrade of power plant electrical systems. The role is based in Clayton, MO with a hybrid work model—three days in the office and two remote days—facilitating collaboration across project teams.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years of detailed physical design experience in grounding layouts, raceway layouts, and electrical equipment location drawings, plus proficiency in Microstation or AutoCAD.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent drafting experience required.
  • 15+ years of detailed physical design experience for grounding layouts and conduit drawings.
  • Experience reviewing electrical physical layout drawings and equipment interfaces.
  • Strong drafting/design practices understanding and ability to interface with multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Review, supervise and provide technical guidance on design deliverables including cable schedules, grounding layouts, raceway layouts, electrical notes and equipment layouts.
  • Lead multiple teams across multiple projects and coordinate with project management and discipline leads.
  • Develop, monitor and control project scopes, budgets and schedules; manage staff assignments and career development.
  • Lead field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities; ensure timely and accurate design outputs.

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days. This position is based in our Clayton, MO office, located within the St. Louis metropolitan area.

This position will offer you the opportunity to work and lead others in a project team environment in the design, modification, and/or upgrade of new and existing power plant electrical systems.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the review, supervision and providing technical guidance in the production of design deliverables, including the following:

  • Cable schedules
  • Grounding layout
  • Underground raceway layouts
  • Above ground raceway layouts
  • Electrical Notes and Details
  • Electrical Equipment Layouts
  • Lighting Layouts
  • Work with management in the development and establishment of project scopes, budgets and schedules.
  • Oversee staff assignments, evaluations and career development for assigned personnel on the large or several small projects.
  • Lead multiple teams across multiple projects.
  • Coordinate directly with project management and project discipline leads.
  • Develop, monitor and control project costs and schedules.
  • Lead field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.

Essential Skills And Experience
  • An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience.
  • 15 or more years of detailed physical design experience in the development of grounding layouts, underground duct bank and embedded conduit drawings, cable tray and exposed conduit layouts, and electrical equipment location drawings.
  • Experience in the review of electrical physical layout drawings involving electrical equipment outlines and interface points.
  • Assist engineers with initial design requirements.
  • Produce physical construction layout drawings.
  • Extensive Microstation and/or AutoCAD design experience on power plants or large facility projects.
  • A thorough understanding of drafting and design practices and theories.
  • The ability to interface and communicate with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.

Compensation Range

$92,270.00 - $140,380.00
