Job summary

Turner Construction Company’s SourceBlue division is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to lead on-site security operations and oversee a multi-disciplinary team. You will develop security procedures and manage relationships with clients, architects, and trade partners while guiding preconstruction cost control and scheduling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field with 10+ years of building construction experience.
• Experience with variety of building construction types.
• Strong drawing and specification comprehension, contract docs, materials, means and methods.
• Thorough knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing and engineering principles.
• Ability to develop client relationships and identify sales opportunities.
• Extensive knowledge of regional market and industry trends.
• Advanced project management skills to move projects forward in a complex environment.
• Management experience; ability to coach and mentor others.
• Strong negotiation skills and executive-level presentation ability.
• Driven, energetic, with lean/process improvement focus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee on-site security operations and team.
• Develop and implement security procedures to protect people and assets.
• Collaborate with Operations on schedule, logistics, safety, and constructability reviews.
• Develop, review and approve assumptions and clarifications.
• Maintain relationships with clients, architects, design community, and trade partners.
• Coordinate with Procurement on preconstruction estimates.
• Participate in hiring, performance reviews, and talent development.
• Develop and monitor the preconstruction budget and provide monthly financial updates.
• Lead review meetings with owner, architect, and engineer for preconstruction.
• Prepare variance messages explaining estimate differences to stakeholders.
• Establish preconstruction QC processes for scope and estimate reviews.
• Drive improvements using VDC, IPD, and other processes.
• Coordinate with Lean Manager to develop and execute Pull Plans for design, estimate and GMP schedules.
• Generate and manage Budget Control Reports and variance analyses.
• Lead Target Value Design for select projects.
