Job summary

ExxonMobil’s Permian Power Team in Midland, TX seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to ensure reliable power for drilling rigs, gas compressors, and supporting infrastructure. You will plan, design, build, and maintain electrical assets to meet growing business demands and industry standards.

You will lead load forecasting, option analysis, AFE management, and coordination with external providers while driving safety and quality across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 5–10 years experience as an electrical power systems engineer designing or supporting medium/high voltage equipment in oil & gas, utility, mining, or manufacturing.
• Strong analytical skills including load flow, voltage regulation, harmonics, protective relay coordination, etc.
• Selection and specification of electrical systems and equipment such as transformers, switchgear, reclosers, protective relays, HV/MV power cables.
• Project management experience including management of third party engineering firms.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, attention to detail, and proactiveness.

Responsibilities

• Interface with cross functional teams to understand field development plans and develop load forecasts.
• Manage multiple projects with moderate complexity.
• Engineering support includes options analysis/selection, design, AFE management, procurement, drawings creation, construction support, commissioning support/start-up and post start-up modifications.
• Evaluate electrical transmission, substation, and distribution infrastructure to determine modifications and new infrastructure required for loads.
• Monitor, assess, and correct power quality issues through the electrical infrastructure.
• Perform root cause analysis on electrical failures and provide corrective actions guidance.
• Work with external electrical service providers (e.g. Oncor, AEP, & Xcel) to ensure power availability.
