Reports to Operations & Maintenance Manager
This position reports to the Operations & Maintenance Manager in the St Charles Maintenance Department.
Job dimensions
- Participates as a member of the Maintenance Team as an Instrument & Electrical specialist, including:
- Participating in daily maintenance meetings and safety discussions.
- Completing work order tasks outlined in the I&E schedule.
- Performing electrical and electronic instrumentation duties, including preventive maintenance of motors, switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, and electrical panels.
- Using hand and power tools, diagnostic meters, and electronic calibration devices; operating forklifts and aerial equipment.
- Electrical troubleshooting and repair of production machinery.
- Reading and interpreting manuals, work orders, schematics, and diagrams; knowledge of NEC codes.
- Sourcing and purchasing instrumentation and electrical parts.
- Supporting Automation Engineers with instrumentation issues.
- Updating and modifying procedures as needed.
- Supporting assigned instrument and electrical tasks.
- Maintaining a safe, clean work environment following HSE procedures.
- Maintaining technical knowledge through workshops and publications.
External I&E contract services, including assisting external contractors and supporting on-site services.Calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various instrument and electrical systems, including pressure, flow, level, temperature, pH, environmental monitoring, packaging equipment, wireless telemetry, and electrical distribution systems.Supporting safety activities such as JSA, THA, safety observations, incident investigations, and audits.Providing emergency repairs and scheduled maintenance, including on-call rotations.Activities
The technician will collaborate with safety, environmental, production, engineering, and other disciplines to achieve job objectives.

The technician is responsible for compliance with HSE training, punctuality, safety, and meeting job expectations.
Qualifications/experience required
- Technical certification in electrical, instrumentation, control, or HVAC systems preferred.
- NFPA 70(E) certification and OSHA CPR training preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience or 2 years of college/trade school plus high school diploma.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with plant-specific software (CMMS, IP21) preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Good communication skills and a valid driver's license; ability to obtain TWIC card.
