Job summary

SMS group is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Tech to maintain and repair factory equipment, industrial machinery and electrical systems. This role emphasizes safety, preventative maintenance, and hands-on problem solving in a steel environment.

You will troubleshoot PLCs, control circuits, VFDs, and I/O devices, read schematics, and work with mechanics to keep production reliable. A minimum of 3 years in industrial settings, with steel mill experience preferred.

• Basic computer skills: MS Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Read electrical drawings, schematics, diagrams to determine procedures.
• Knowledge of ladder logic and function block programming.
• Knowledge of VFDs, I.O. systems (Beckhoff, Allen Bradley) and design layout.
• Three-phase motors troubleshooting; network infrastructure.
• Willing to learn multiple roles including mechanical/production.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on complex electrical equipment including PLCs, control circuits, IO, and VFDs.
• Install or modify electrical equipment following codes, manuals, and schematics with minimal instruction.
• Collaborate with mechanics and operations to promote safety and productivity.
