Job summary

Buro Happold is seeking a motivated Electrical Intern to join our team and contribute to innovative and sustainable engineering solutions in Chicago. You will work with experienced engineers on building services design, gaining hands-on experience while supporting projects that shape communities and address climate challenges.

The role involves using Revit and AutoCAD to create drawings, performing load analysis, and assisting with design calculations under supervision.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
• Coursework in electrical power systems design, control systems, and/or building systems design
• Interest in the electrical engineering industry with an emphasis on the power side of the discipline
• Academic research, coursework, or other experience with alternative energy systems and other technologies new to the construction industry preferred
• Familiarity with BIM modeling software, such as Revit, AutoCAD
• Internship experience at engineering related firm preferred, and proven interest in the built environment
• Ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible manner
• Eagerness to learnand work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Responsibilities

• Using Revit, prepare technical drawings, schedules, and reports
• Analyze load todeterminesystem sizing, and assign circuitry for power and lighting devices
• Undertake electrical engineering building services design and calculations (using software and knowledge to verify robust calculations such as Design Master and SKM)
• Embrace the latest technologies to improve performance and sustainability
