Job summary

Gilbert Mechanical, an established electrical contractor in the Minneapolis area, is seeking an Electrical Intern to support our project management team. This in‑office, full‑time role provides hands-on experience with commercial electrical construction alongside project managers, estimators, engineers, and field staff.

You will review drawings, assist with takeoffs and cost analysis, track schedules and budgets, and participate in job walks and site visits.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Interest in construction, engineering, and project management.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers with planning and coordination of construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents.
• Support estimating with takeoffs and cost analysis.
• Help track project schedules, materials, budgets, and documentation.
• Attend job walks, project meetings, and site visits.
• Assist with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project correspondence.
• Support project teams in maintaining safety and quality standards.
