Job summary

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) seeks a full-time Electrical Instructor to deliver workforce training, develop curriculum, and maintain a safe instructional lab. The role focuses on practical skill development, credential attainment, and alignment with regional employer needs.

The instructor will teach NCCER Core and Electrical courses, prepare detailed lesson plans, and collaborate with employers to ensure programs meet current industry standards and credential requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an electrical apprenticeship or similar.
• At least five years of electrical trade experience in residential/commercial/industrial settings.
• Current journeyman license in Virginia or comparable license with ability to obtain Virginia credential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging classroom and hands-on lab instruction in electrical theory and wiring methods.
• Teach NCCER Core and Electrical courses and develop residential/commercial applications.
• Prepare syllabi, lesson plans, demos, labs, and assessments with clear outcomes.
• Apply National Electrical Code and safety practices; monitor and document competencies.
• Use LMS tools to support instruction and maintain records; mentor adjunct instructors.
