Job summary

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) seeks a full-time Electrical Instructor to deliver workforce training and prepare students for entry-level electrical employment and credentials. The instructor will teach NCCER Core and Electrical courses, develop curriculum, maintain a safe lab, and collaborate with employers on regional training needs.

The role emphasizes practical skills, student retention, and credential attainment, with instruction potentially at college facilities or employer

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship or equivalent.
• At least five years of electrical trade experience including installation, testing, and repair.
• Current journeyman license in Virginia or applicable license with ability to obtain VA credential.
• Teaching, training, or mentoring experience in technical skills.
• Ability to obtain NCCER instructor certification for assigned courses.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom and hands-on electrical instruction, including NCCER courses.
• Develop and update curriculum to align with industry needs and credentialing.
• Maintain a safe instructional laboratory and supervise students.
• Collaborate with employers for apprenticeship opportunities and program alignment.
• Assess student competencies and support credential attainment.
