Job summary

Virginia Peninsula Community College is seeking an Adjunct Electrical Instructor to teach NCCER Core and Electrical Levels 1 and 2 within the Workforce Development Department. The position supports the Residential Electrician program and teaches up to 1500 hours per year, with day, evening, or weekend classes in a part-time capacity.

Assignments are based on enrollment and staffing needs; adjunct appointments carry no guarantee of continued employment.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Significant work experience within the Electrical field.
  • Prior experience delivering or developing training.
  • Commitment to student-centered learning and academic excellence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt instructional methods for diverse learners.
  • Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit final grades on time.
  • Experience with traditional and non-traditional students.
  • Experience teaching adult learners.

Responsibilities

  • Teach NCCER Core, Electrical Levels 1 and 2 in Workforce Development.
  • Instruct students in electrical circuits, theory, code, and safety.
  • Maintain inventories and ensure instructional materials are ready.
  • Coordinate with industry to provide job pipelines.
  • Possibly assist in other assigned duties by Director.
