Job summary

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) seeks a full-time Electrical Instructor to deliver workforce training, credential attainment, and progression in the electrical trades. Instruction and labs cover NCCER Core and Electrical courses, with curriculum development and strong ties to regional employers to keep training aligned with workforce needs.

The role focuses on practical skill development, student retention, completion, and credential attainment.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent plus a recognized electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of progressively responsible electrical trade experience.
• Virginia journeyman license or comparable license with ability to obtain Virginia credential.
• Knowledge of electrical theory, wiring, code, safety, and use of trade tools.
• Experience teaching or mentoring learners in technical skills with assessment ability.
• Ability to obtain NCCER instructor certification before delivering credential-bearing instruction.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication; collaboration with employers and college colleagues.
• Ability to use computer applications, maintain records, and learn credentialing systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver classroom and lab instruction in electrical theory and related trades.
• Teach NCCER Core and Electrical courses; develop residential/commercial applications.
• Prepare syllabi, lesson plans, demonstrations, and assessments with clear outcomes.
• Apply National Electric Code and safety standards to curriculum.
• Assess student knowledge, provide timely feedback, and proctor credential exams.
• Leverage LMS and technology to support instruction and materials.
