Job summary

Construction Association of Michigan seeks a skilled Electrical Inspector to perform inspections of electrical installations during construction, alteration and completion, ensuring compliance with City ordinances and safety standards.

The role involves testing completed work, advising electricians and contractors, investigating violations, and preparing inspection reports while coordinating with multiple city departments.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Four (4) years’ experience in the installation of electrical systems.
  • Electrical Master’s license required.
  • Electrical Inspector’s registration issued by the State of Michigan.
  • ICC certifications in Residential Electrical Inspector and Commercial Electrical Inspector within six months of hire.
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license and insurability.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect electrical installations during construction, alteration and completion.
  • Test completed work to ensure proper materials and code compliance.
  • Assist and advise electricians, contractors and others in permits.
  • Investigate violations of electrical ordinances in the field and enforce ordinances.
  • Prepare periodic records and reports of inspections and violations.
  • Coordinate with building, heating, zoning and plumbing inspectors and other personnel.
