Job summary

City of Houston seeks an Electrical Inspector to enforce electrical codes and review plans to ensure compliance with specifications. You will investigate unpermitted work, issue notices, and coordinate with contractors and the public.

The role requires examining drawings, maintaining records, and communicating findings. You will handle inquiries, prepare reports, and support safety through adherence to standards.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of journey level or skilled experience related to inspection.
• May require a valid Texas driver’s license.
• Electrical - ICBO or IAEA Inspector's Certificate.
• Preference for journeyman level electrical license or ICC/ICBO/IAEI Inspector's Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate enforcement of electrical codes, ordinances and specifications.
• Inspect electrical systems and investigate unpermitted work.
• Meet with public, contractors and technicians to address inquiries and issues.
• Maintain records and prepare reports and documentation.
• Research plans and drawings to evaluate compliance.
