Qualifications

  • Adhere to panel shop processes for quality and safety.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle tools carefully.
  • Proactively seek additional tasks and work with supervision as needed.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members while often working independently.

Job Title: Electrical Helper
Job Description

This role focuses on building, wiring, and testing electrical control panels in a clean, organized, and temperature-controlled facility. You will use hand tools and electrical test equipment to assemble panels according to blueprints and schematics, ensure quality and safety standards, and work independently in your own designated work area.

Responsibilities
  • Build and wire electrical control panels according to blueprints, schematics, and work instructions.

  • Use basic hand tools, including screwdrivers, hand drills, and wire cutters, to assemble and install components.

  • Fabricate control panels by mounting, routing, and organizing components and wiring.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints to determine wiring layouts and component locations.

  • Compare completed wiring and the location of control devices against drawings to verify accuracy.

  • Examine wiring for loose, faulty, or incorrect connections and correct any issues found.

  • Use test equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters to test panels and verify proper operation.

  • Test wiring circuits to identify malfunctions and determine root causes of issues.

  • Label each wire in the panel clearly and accurately to ensure proper identification and maintenance.

  • Follow panel shop processes and standards for quality, safety, cleanliness, and organization.

  • Maintain a clean, orderly work area and handle tools and equipment with care.

  • Work proactively by seeking additional tasks or assistance when assigned work is completed.

  • Collaborate with supervisors and team members as needed while primarily working independently.

Essential Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.

  • Experience working with basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, hand drills, and wire cutters.

  • Mechanical aptitude and strong hands-on mechanical and electrical skills.

  • Ability to wire control panels accurately and efficiently.

  • Ability to use electrical test equipment including voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters.

  • Knowledge of panel shop processes, including quality, safety, cleanliness, and organization.

  • Experience with electrical wiring, panel wiring, and electrical assembly.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work from electrical schematics and drawings.

  • Capability to identify and troubleshoot wiring issues and perform root cause analysis.

  • Comfort working independently in an individual work area.

  • Reliability to work a first-shift schedule with mandatory overtime as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience building or wiring control panels in a production or panel shop environment.

  • Experience wiring HVAC units or working in HVAC-related electrical roles.

  • Experience as a maintenance technician with strong electrical and mechanical skills.

  • Prior work experience in electrical assembly or panel building environments.

  • Familiarity with blueprint reading in industrial or manufacturing settings.

  • Proactive work style, including asking for additional tasks when work is completed early.

Employees may listen to music on headphones while they work, contributing to a comfortable and focused atmosphere. The standard shift runs Monday through Thursday from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with mandatory Friday work currently in place due to high workload, after the first two weeks of training.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
