Job summary

RTX is seeking an Electrical Engineering Hardware Engineering Section Manager to lead the Optics Center in the Optics Electronics Department. This onsite role in McKinney, TX, combines technical leadership with program management across hardware lifecycles and IPTL activities.

The candidate will guide up to 15 engineers, ensure on-time, on-budget delivery, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams while developing talent and reviewing critical hardware artifacts.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience.
• Experience in engineering development or equivalent experience.
• Technical leadership experience managing technical teams, including working with Program office and Customer teams throughout the entire hardware life cycle.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional management tasks for a team of up to 15 engineers and actively engage in technical program aspects.
• Ensure work is on schedule, on budget, and right the first time.
• Lead resources and provide technical guidance, career development, and risk mitigation.
• Interact with Team Leads, Chief Engineers and Program Managers to meet customer needs.
• Collaborate with Systems and Software Engineering to gather necessary information.
