Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems seeks an Electrical Hardware Design Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to work on PCBAs, power supplies, mixed-signal, FPGA, and microcontroller designs. Mentorship will guide you through design, layout, verification, and testing across diverse programs in defense and aerospace.

The role emphasizes hands-on hardware development, including testing with oscilloscopes, SPICE analysis, and collaboration with experienced engineers. Onsite in Huntsville, AL, summer 2027.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Includes resume and unofficial transcripts with application.
• Demonstrates problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Basic understanding of circuit theory and design.
• Exposure to at least one programming language (Python, MATLAB, or C/C++).
• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain DoD Secret clearance.
• Able to work onsite in Huntsville, AL summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, simulation, modeling and testing of hardware solutions.
• Use design tools such as Mentor Graphics, Altium for PCB design, SPICE, and Visio.
• Develop and execute hardware verification plans.
• Debug hardware using oscilloscopes and signal generators.
• Collaborate with team members on hardware projects.
