This position is an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer Summer Intern in the Electrical Systems Department. Interns are provided with opportunities to participate in a wide range of design engineering activities that include concept development, architecting, implementing, and testing printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) including power supply, mixed‑signal, FPGA, microcontroller designs. There are also additional skill development opportunities through participation in printed circuit board layout, signal integrity analysis, power distribution network design, technical trade studies, and evaluation of technology improvements. The selected candidate will work closely with their assigned mentor on tasks that are beneficial to the intern's skills development and valuable to the programs with which they are working. The ideal candidate will thrive in a learning environment that encourages leadership and technical growth.

Basic Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/ university and currently working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Holds a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Includes resume and unofficial transcripts in application.
• Demonstrates problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Basic understanding of circuit theory and design.
• Exposure to at least one programming language (Python, MATLAB, or C/C++).
• Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework or project experience with: Multi‑layer PCB design or layout
• Digital logic design (VHDL/Verilog, FPGAs, or microcontrollers)
• Power electronics or switched‑mode power supplies
• RF fundamentals or communication systems
• Hands‑on laboratory experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, signal generators, multimeters)
• Familiarity with Design tools (Mentor Graphics, Altium, KiCad, or similar)
• Previous internship, co‑op, or undergraduate research experience in hardware design
• Personal projects or competition experience (IEEE, robotics, etc.) demonstrating electrical engineering skis

Pay Range: Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00 The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
