Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems in Huntsville, AL invites students for a summer internship as an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer Intern. You will work on PCBAs, power supplies, mixed‑signal, FPGA, and microcontroller designs under the guidance of a mentor.

The program emphasizes hands‑on hardware design, testing, and tool usage such as Mentor Graphics, Altium, SPICE, and Visio, with opportunities in board layout, signal integrity, and power distribution networks.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university and pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Holds a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Includes resume and unofficial transcripts in application.
• Demonstrates problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Basic understanding of circuit theory and design.
• Exposure to at least one programming language (Python, MATLAB, or C/C++).
• Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
• Able to work onsite in Huntsville, AL during summer 2027.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, simulation, modeling and testing of hardware solutions.
• Work with design tools such as Mentor Graphics, Altium for PCB design, SPICE, and Visio.
• Develop and execute hardware verification plans.
• Debug hardware using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and signal generators.
• Collaborate with team members on hardware projects.
