Job summary

North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives is seeking a Field Service Technician to support operation, testing, inspection, and maintenance of mobile substations, relays, and metering equipment across generation, transmission, and distribution sites. The role requires hands-on field work and coordination with EMCs, contractors, and vendor teams.

Responsibilities include developing testing schedules, maintaining records, performing annual tests, and providing technical assistance for protective relay

Qualifications

• Associate degree in electrical utility and power systems or equivalent experience.
• Minimum four years in electric utility and industrial operations and maintenance (Technician II).

Responsibilities

• Review the mobile substations usage by member EMCs and maintain related records.
• Create monthly reports of MS usage and maintenance.
• Develop and maintain testing and maintenance schedule for MS.
• Provide technical assistance for MS and test equipment operations.
• Install and maintain control system improvements for mobile substations.
• Perform annual testing on NCEMC’s mobile substations and member EMCs’ equipment.
• Assist in testing NCEMC’s generation, transmission, and substation protection systems.
• Perform testing of various NCEMC electrical equipment and testing equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance of test equipment and member EMCs’ equipment.
• Assist in installation and maintenance of additions to generation, transmission, and substation equipment.
