Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Field Service Technician to provide on-site support for heavy mining equipment across the Queenstown region in the Eastern Cape. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain electrical systems, interpret schematics, and travel to mine sites to minimize downtime and keep critical production uninterrupted for clients.

Qualifications

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent trade qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an electrical technician, with heavy machinery or industrial equipment.
• Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical control systems, motors, and power electronics.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and diagnostic data.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of heavy equipment operation.
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and travel extensively.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and be eligible to work in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and components on heavy mining equipment.
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections to prevent equipment failures.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to identify faults.
• Communicate effectively with clients to understand equipment issues and provide updates on repair progress.
• Complete detailed service reports, documenting all work performed and parts used.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and company procedures.
• Provide technical training and guidance to client personnel as required.
• Manage service vehicle inventory and tools effectively.
• Respond to emergency service calls as needed.
