Job summary

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Building Technology, Construction Management or related field.
• Three years of experience in construction, building trades, site inspections or related field.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• Must acquire required licenses or certifications within probationary period.
• Physical requirements include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Able to work in environments with dirt, noise, and weather extremes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections at residential and commercial construction sites; inspect building, electrical, framing, footing/slabs, HVAC, plumbing, insulation, gas, water, and other items.
• Review approved building plans and compare to actual construction; ensure compliance with codes, ordinances, and standards.
• Record failed inspections; issue notices of violations and warnings to contractors, owners, developers or other parties; collaborate to resolve non-compliance issues.
• Approve construction activities and final products meeting code requirements; maintain inspection records.
• Consult with building owners, contractors, developers and the public regarding codes and inspection procedures; respond to questions and requests for information.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and standards; attend workshops and training as appropriate.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
