Job summary
Shimmick is seeking Field Engineer Interns for the Summer 2027 Internship program in the Northwest Division. The role offers placements across Northern California, including San Francisco, Modesto, Santa Cruz and Sacramento, with start in May or June 2027 and an August/September end date depending on academic schedules.
The internship provides exposure to electrical, civil, and construction disciplines within large infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a university program pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field with intent to continue enrollment after internship.
- Must have completed at least 1 year of study.
Responsibilities
- Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and criteria to develop understanding of professional responsibilities.
- Assist with field inspections to evaluate work and materials used.
- Assist with construction administration and documentation of deficiencies and deviations from plans.
- Prepare engineering calculations and develop drawings and visual aids.
- Coordinate logistics and meetings for project managers.
- Attend and take minutes for development team meetings.
- Support monthly development reports and community outreach as needed.
