Job Description

We are looking for a Lead Electrical Field Tech who will be building a new team to operate and maintain a diverse and growing portfolio of distributed generation resources, primarily within the state of Ohio. We are seeking an experienced, technically capable, problem-solving leader to assist in building out this team from the ground up. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to contribute to the selection, training, logistics, and ultimately work management for a new team dedicated to the operation and maintenance of projects owned and operated by the company, with clear line of sight and dependable hours supporting long-term (10+ year) contracts and assets.

The candidate will:

• Assist in hiring, developing, training, and oversight of the newly created field services team, including directing work based on priorities set in collaboration with the operations and maintenance team, meeting or exceeding availability and performance targets, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

• Provide recommendations and assist in building additional regional teams as we demonstrate the value and achieve concentration in other regions.

• Collaborate with and oversee contractor work where applicable, maintaining strong relationships with customers and contractors alike.

This role will be comprised of a roughly 80/20 mix of field and office time (Central office in Columbus, OH). It will primarily support our Ohio portfolio of energy generation projects, and most of the work will be within a one-day round trip driving radius of any point in North or Central Ohio. The field services team will also oversee and potentially assist with work outside of the typical service area (particularly for any high priority, high impact faults, failures or underperformance) and the candidate should anticipate roughly 5%-10% of their time dedicated to overnight travel out of state.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Leadership and Team Development

o Lead, mentor, and direct the field services team to achieve organizational goals

o Assist in setting performance goals, contribute to evaluations and coaching of employees, train and develop the field services team to improve safety awareness, skills and capabilities.

o Collaborate with the operations and construction teams to prioritize and optimize inspections, preventive and corrective work across the portfolio, working in unison to troubleshoot and ultimately resolve faults, failures, and underperformance while supporting construction activities.

o Manage contractors where applicable, whether to accomplish larger work evolutions, or as supplementary labor to timely resolve high priority issues.

o Track KPI’s around the effectiveness of the field services team – safety performance, response time, first truck roll resolutions, availability, etc.

3. Environment, Health, and Safety

o Develop, implement and champion the strictest safety standards and practices to ensure a zero-harm work environment. This includes control of hazardous energy (LOTO), hazard recognition and mitigation (PPE), proper work planning procedures, and all other applicable safety standards and regulations

o Ensure all operations comply with relevant safety, environmental, and operational standards, including tracking waste generation and disposition and maintaining records necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable environmental permits.

4. Performance Optimization & Business Operations

o Manage and prioritize tasks or work orders to maximize the value of technicians’ labor hours, biasing toward those issues with the greatest impact to company revenue and availability.

o Manage the field service team and company resources to efficiently and cost effectively maintain projects.

o Explore and present opportunities to reduce expenses, increase revenues and dispatch the team more effectively (partner with local, inexpensive contract resources; project upgrades or optimization; proactive testing, repairs, or replacements; monitoring solutions; OEM training for more effective troubleshooting; etc)

5. Contractor and Stakeholder engagement

o Oversee contractors with the intent of fostering and maintaining long-term, strategic, and mutually beneficial partnerships.

o Work closely with internal teams, customers, and service providers to ensure alignment and smooth operations.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strategic mindset with a focus on achieving company goals.

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Effective problem-solving, troubleshooting and decision-making abilities.

• Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

• Ownership mentality – personal accountability for the condition and performance of the portfolio.
