Spire Solutions, a subsidiary of The Weitz Company, seeks an Estimator II – Electrical to join our Des Moines, IA team. The estimator will support the estimating group by preparing portions of electrical estimates, quantity surveying, and bid development for construction projects.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of estimating experience in construction.
• Electrical estimating experience highly preferred.
• Degree in a construction-related field desirable.

Responsibilities

• Read and analyze technical plans/specifications and incorporate requirements into the estimate.
• Produce reliable quantity surveys and documented estimates.
• Generate design development estimates from incomplete plans.
• Assist in developing project quantities from schematic plans and elevations.
• Conduct sub and vendor solicitation and communicate scope clearly.
• Ensure complete trade coverage and flag potential gaps.
• Prepare bid-day spreadsheets and detailed proposal tabulations.
• Project pricing using historical data and adjustments for conditions.
• Review proposals for gaps and overlaps in scope.
• Prepare final estimate for rollover to cost accounting system.
• Prepare cost analysis reports highlighting value opportunities.
