Job summary

JB Electrical in Sterling Heights, MI is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator for full-time on-site work. You will review plans, quantify materials, labor and equipment, and prepare competitive cost proposals for commercial, light industrial and service projects.

You will collaborate with project managers, engineers and field teams, track market pricing and vendor quotes, and help drive cost control while updating estimates as designs evolve.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-4 years of electrical estimating experience preferred.
• Strong electrical estimating skills including quantity take-offs, bid preparation, and budget development.
• Knowledge of Electrical contracting practices, project delivery methods and contractor coordination.
• Foundational electrical engineering knowledge for interpreting drawings, specs and standards.
• Experience with estimating software, spreadsheets, and blueprint-reading tools; numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and collaboration on-site with project teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans, specifications and scopes to quantify materials, labor and equipment needs.
• Develop detailed cost proposals and bids for commercial, light industrial and service projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers and field teams to clarify requirements and assess constructability.
• Update estimates as designs evolve and track market pricing, vendor quotes and historical cost data.
• Maintain estimating tools and support cost control through the project lifecycle.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and support contract negotiations; contribute to value-engineering.
