Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Engineering Technician with an electrical focus to support a growing engineering team in a heavy industrial setting. You will apply strong electrical, fabrication, and troubleshooting skills to industrial automation and control panel projects, collaborating with engineering, operations, and external partners.

The role involves designing and validating electrical layouts, creating BOMs, working from schematics, and supporting UL certification efforts.

Qualifications

• 2+ years exposure to industrial control panels or wiring builds.
• 1+ year as a technician in industrial automation or manufacturing with customized products.
• 2–3+ years in heavy industrial, automation, or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read schematics and engineering drawings.
• Experience with electrical components such as VFDs, PLCs, motors, and fans.

Responsibilities

• Interface with client and distributor reps to clarify requirements and support project delivery.
• Create Bills of Materials for non-engineered solutions, ensuring completeness and cost-effectiveness.
• Validate engineered solutions to meet design specs, safety standards, and project requirements.
• Maintain complete design and build packages for engineering and production use.
• Quote and identify alternate electrical components to optimize delivery, design performance, and cost.
• Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, and stakeholders to ensure accurate as-built records.
• Schedule and execute design and manufacturing kickoff meetings and reviews.
• Perform AutoCAD schematic work and development for control panels and related systems.
• Read and interpret schematics for manufacturing and assembly activities.
• Specify electrical components in control panel applications (VFDs, PLCs, motors, fans).
• Support UL certification and DGU courses when offered.
