Job summary

Actalent seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to own the design of industrial control panels and related subsystems. You will largely design and coordinate projects, with minimal hands‑on build support, in a fast‑paced startup/R&D setting in Austin, TX.

The role emphasizes transitioning from AutoCAD Electrical to SolidWorks Electrical, documentation, and cross‑functional collaboration with mechanical, manufacturing, and PLC teams. Contract position offering growth potential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years' experience in electrical design for industrial automation.
• Experience designing industrial control panels, AC power distribution, and cable harnesses.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and/or SolidWorks Electrical.
• Familiarity with UL/NFPA standards and BOM/documentation.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and manage multiple subsystems.

Responsibilities

• Design industrial control panels and PLC-connected systems with accurate schematics.
• Develop drawings in AutoCAD Electrical and transition to SolidWorks Electrical.
• Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, PLC programmers, and technicians.
• Own electrical subsystems, support prototyping and troubleshooting.
• Maintain BOMs and documentation; manage design updates.
