We’re looking for an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead a growing team while remaining deeply involved in the technical work. This is a true player-coach position for an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys developing people but also wants to stay close to the hardware.
You’ll help set technical direction, guide design decisions, and contribute directly to schematic development, PCB layout, and hardware architecture. Working across a matrixed engineering organization, you’ll partner closely with mechanical, firmware, systems, and manufacturing teams to take reliable hardware from concept through deployment.
What You’ll Do
- Build, mentor, and lead a team of electrical engineers while managing priorities, project assignments, and individual development.
- Stay hands-on with electrical design, including schematic capture, PCB layout, design reviews, and technical decision-making.
- Establish and maintain engineering standards for electrical design quality, reliability, and performance.
- Guide development of hardware spanning power electronics, motor control, embedded computing, and networking.
- Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers to ensure electrical architectures integrate effectively across the broader system.
- Work closely with manufacturing and production teams to communicate design intent, troubleshoot hardware issues, and improve manufacturability.
- Help remove technical and organizational roadblocks so the team can execute effectively in a fast-moving development environment.
- Provide technical mentorship and feedback while building a collaborative, accountable engineering culture.
What You’ll Bring
- 7+ years of electrical engineering experience, including experience directly managing or leading electrical engineers.
- Strong hands-on background in schematic design and PCB layout, with a desire to remain technically engaged while leading a team.
- Broad technical knowledge across power electronics, motor drivers, embedded computing, and networking systems.
- Ability to evaluate complex technical tradeoffs, make sound design decisions, and communicate those decisions effectively.
- Experience working within a matrixed engineering organization and coordinating projects across multiple technical disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers through design reviews, technical challenges, and professional development.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, particularly when working across mechanical, firmware, systems, and manufacturing teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing hardware for defense, robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace, or other high-reliability applications.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer or a comparable EDA platform for schematic capture and PCB design.
- Experience taking hardware through multiple stages of development, from early prototypes through qualification, production, and field deployment.
