We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead, mentor, and grow our electrical engineering team within a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment. This is a hands-on, player-coach position where you will maintain direct technical involvement in schematic design, PCB layout, and hardware development while providing technical direction, managing priorities, and removing obstacles for the team.
You will work effectively within a matrix organization, partnering closely with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineering teams to develop and deliver reliable hardware that performs in real-world environments.
What You'l Do
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers while managing workloads, priorities, and career development within a cross-functional, matrix-style organization.
- Remain hands-on with schematic capture and PCB layout while reviewing and approving team designs to maintain high standards for quality and reliability.
- Drive electrical engineering development across power electronics, motor drives, embedded computing, and networking subsystems.
- Partner with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineering teams to ensure electrical designs integrate effectively across subsystems and meet program requirements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to communicate engineering designs and intent, identify production challenges, and drive resolution of technical issues.
- Provide technical guidance through design reviews, engineering decisions, and problem-solving while supporting the team's overall development.
What You'l Need
- 7+ years of electrical engineering experience, including direct management of electrical engineers in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB layout, with the ability and willingness to remain technically engaged while managing engineering responsibilities.
- Strong technical depth in power electronics, motor drivers, embedded computing, and networking, with the ability to make and defend technical design decisions.
- Experience leading engineering teams within a matrix organization, with strong communication and coordination skills across mechanical, firmware, and systems engineering.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing junior electrical engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and career development.
- Ability to foster a collaborative, high-performing engineering culture.
Youl Stand Out
- Experience in defense, robotics, autonomous systems, or other high-reliability embedded hardware environments.
- Proficiency with Altium Designer or equivalent EDA tools for both schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Experience taking hardware from prototype through qualification and into field deployment.
- Familiarity with MIL-SPEC or other environmental qualification standards applicable to defense or field-deployed hardware.
