Job summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic Electrical Engineering Intern in Boston to work with our experienced team on meaningful projects. This hybrid position requires at least 3 days in the office, with preference for 3+ months of commitment.

Responsibilities include assisting in building and facility electrical design, CAD tasks, and preparation of drawings and schematics under a Senior Engineer, with exposure to power systems, lighting, grounding, and protection schemes.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at an ABET-accredited University or NCEES equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Support and be mentored in all aspects of building and facility electrical design.
• Conduct field surveys, calculations, and CAD tasks.
• Prepare power systems single-line diagrams, metering and relaying schematics, control schematics, wiring and layout drawings.
• Design grounding grids, lightning protection, lighting, and power distribution systems.
• Assist in preparing technical and cost proposals, and change orders for existing projects.
• Interface with railway clients, utility reps, and STV departments.
• Develop designs into construction documents under a Senior Engineer.
• Provide designs and calculations for power, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
• Participate in all project phases from planning through close-out.
• Coordinate utility service layouts, power generation/storage, and distributions.
• Use AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and Word to assemble contract documents.
• Construct electrical system models in SKM, ETAP, and EasyPower, and perform calculations.
• Develop designs using Revit and/or AutoCAD for power, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
• Perform electrical calculations using specialized engineering software.
• Perform other tasks to support project goals.
