Job summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic Electrical Engineering Intern to join our team in Boston. This hybrid internship offers undergraduate and graduate‑level candidates the opportunity to work alongside our experienced engineers on meaningful projects and contribute to design efforts.

You will be mentored in building and facility electrical design, including field surveys, CAD tasks, and coordination with trades, with projects spanning transit terminals, municipal facilities, and light commercial

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation CAD software.
• Interest in electrical building design and project coordination.

Responsibilities

• Support and be mentored in all aspects of building and facility electrical design.
• Conduct field surveys, calculations, and CAD tasks.
• Prepare power systems single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring and layout drawings.
• Design grounding grids, lighting, and related power distribution systems.
• Assist in preparing technical and cost proposals and change orders.
• Interface with railway clients, utility reps, and STV departments.
• Develop schematic designs into construction documents under guidance.
• Provide designs and calculations for power, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
• Participate in all project phases from planning through close-out.
• Coordinate utility layouts, power generation/storage, and distributions.
• Use AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, MS Word to assemble documents.
• Construct electrical system models and perform calculations.
• Develop designs using Revit/AutoCAD for power, lighting, fire alarm systems.
• Perform electrical calculations with specialized software.
• Support project goals and team objectives.

Education
